The Host is the most

"The Host" is the highest-grossing film of all time in South Korea, but people still faint over Michael Jackson in other countries, so, really. . .

But when critics compared it to "Jaws," they got my attention. Just as I was about to condemn them for blasphemy, I went and saw it, and now I'm having a real crisis here.

Director Joon-ho Bong lays out a simple monster flick that focuses on a small, dysfunctional family out to rescue their youngest from the lair of a fish-frog-lizard-like beast borne of toxic waste courtesy of the U.S Army.

It's hard to throw "realistic' in here, but when this beast rises up from Seoul's Han River and people enjoying the weather go from "What the?' to "Ruuunnnnnn!' it's like a film crew just happened to be there. It's just screams and chaos and it's one of the best openers ever.
The interaction between this scrappy family could elicit tears, laughs, or even a few cheers. I'm sorry Jaws, I'll just pretend I never saw it.
